18/01/19 - Remote Session - Research planning
This
Friday we did a remote session via AdobeConnect, because we just rather quickly
wanted to present and discuss the different research approaches from the groups
and clarify open questions regarding the trip to Langenau next week. Prior to
the session, we as a group clustered the questions from the world café into
different sections:
General
questions like
-
How urgently do you rate the need to change
something (in PT, transportation, environment, infrastructure)
-
How is the parking situation in Langenau?
-
What are you afraid of in terms of mobility?
Questions
to the transportation mode like
-
Which transportation method are you using? How
often?
-
How much do you spend on your transportation
options?
-
How many cars do you possess in the family? Do
you still use Public Transportation (PT)?
-
How do you travel long distances form Langenau?
Is it possible with the PT?
-
Do you use car-sharing / pooling services? Is
there an info service to organize this?
Questions
regarding public transportation like
-
How convenient is the time schedule of PT for
you? How do you inform yourself about train/bus schedule? Is there an App?
-
Which problems are you facing with PT?
-
How do you rate the interconnectivity of PT?
-
Have you been affected by disruptions/delays in
PT?
-
Do you think that PT is easily accessible?
-
Is PT affordable?
And
also some questions about eMobility or alternative mobility solution:
-
Are you ready to use eMobility tomorrow?
-
Are you already using it?
-
Are you familiar with innovative eMobility
options?
-
Would you use eMobility transportation like
e-busses etc.?
Our initial approach was to visit Langenau
and spread our group to conduct interviews with randomly selected citizens that
we will meet on the streets (families, students, kids, seniors…). If the
interviewee agrees, we would also like to record the interview as a video or
audio. Additionally, we planned on studying the bus and train schedules,
connections, destinations, prices and information options and to document the
infrastructure with videos and pictures (e.g. from the bus/train stations,
sidewalks, bike lanes, roads…).
The
other students and our lecturer recommended
to prepare three pairs of questionnaires with different questions instead
of the sole questionnaire that we already created. This way we can reach more
interviewees and cover a broader scope of questions. Another proposal was to rephrase
some questions so that they could be easily answered by ticking a box instead
of writing many key words. We should further include a question at the top,
where the interviewee can select his/her age group, so that we have the
demographical spread at the end. I was very glad about the recommendations and
happy about the fact that our lecturer proposed to get in touch with some
public places like cafés or the hospital, where we could leave a set of our
questionnaires.
